Are you interested in receiving email updates on MID's water operations activities?

Send us your email to PublicAffairs@mid.org and we'll add you to our distribution list!

MID provides irrigation water to approximately 2,300 agricultural customers who irrigate close to 60,000 acres of permanent and annual crops alike. Water is transported to area farms via MID's 208 miles of canals and pipelines that operate on a gravity flow system. Surface water from the Tuolumne River flows downhill all the way from the beginning (MID's Upper Main Canal at La Grange) to the end of MID's canal system (several locations where there are drains into the San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Tuolumne rivers).

TrueCIP - MID Irrigation Services Portal

MID is always looking for innovative and cost effective ways to improve our customer service and provide you with tools to manage your irrigation water. Through TrueCIP - MID Irrigation Services Portal - irrigation customers can access up-to-date account information including water usage anytime and anywhere.

2024 Water Allocation

The 2024 irrigation season water allocation is 42 inches uncapped per irrigated acre with replenishment water available.

Farmer to Farmer Delivery Program

On April 26, 2022, the MID Board of Directors approved changes to the MID Irrigation Rules and Regulations making the Farmer to Farmer Delivery Program a permanent transfer program. Farmers may transfer all or a portion of their surface water allocation to another farmer within MID's irrigation boundaries. MID will only be responsible for processing agreements and won't be involved in any financial transactions for this program.

If you're interested in participating, please review, complete and return a Farmer to Farmer Delivery Program Agreement to MID via email.

Long-Term Groundwater Replenishment Program (GRP)

MID is now accepting applications for the Long-Term Groundwater Replenishment Program (GRP).

Long-Term GRP Application & Agreement (PDF)

Long-Term Groundwater Replenishment Program Fact Sheet (PDF)

The Long-Term GRP is a voluntary, 20-year program open to all water users in the Modesto Subbasin. In wet years where MID irrigators and the City of Modesto have received full uncapped allocations, MID will make surface water available to applicants.

Applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis for the first 50 percent of water available. In the years where the MID Board of Directors determines the availability of GRP water, the remaining available GRP water will be held in reserve for distribution on a parity basis for applications received in the first 30 days after the determination is made.

This program is part of a series of groundwater management actions spurred by the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. These actions are aimed at reducing reliance on pumping, promoting groundwater storage programs, improving both the availability and quality of water to disadvantaged communities, providing flood control, and protecting our groundwater for generations. .

If you have questions about the GRP application process or your eligibility, please contact MID Water Operations at (209) 526-7562.
