As more of our customers are entering into the electric vehicle (EV) market, MID now offers a new EV electric rate, as well as a rebate to assist. with the cost of installing EV chargers.
EV-D Rate
MID'S EV-D rate allows customers with EV's to be billed for their electric usage at different prices depending on the time of day. With this time of use rate, customers are encouraged to do more energy intensive activities - such as charging their EV - during off-peak periods when prices are lower. When prices are higher during on-peak hours, customers are encouraged to refrain from energy intensive activities. By maximizing electric usage during off-peak periods, EV customers can lower their monthly electric bills.
Off-Peak hours are weekdays from 11 p.m. - 1 p.m., weekends and holidays. Partial Peak hours are weekdays from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. On-Peak hours are weekdays from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
This rate applies to all the electricity in your home, including your EV charging load. This is an optional, pilot rate for residential customers and you may opt out at any time with no penalty. Sign up today by contacting MID's Customer Service department.
