Agencies to advance historic Tuolumne River salmon habitat restoration program with leading California nonprofit

The Modesto and Turlock Irrigation Districts (MID and TID) and the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) are teaming up to design and implement a collaborative, holistic habitat restoration program along the lower Tuolumne River to improve the health and long-term recovery of the fishery and local communities it serves. MID, TID and the SFPUC are self-funding the $80 million program.

MID Board approves rate increases for 2024 and 2025

By a majority vote on Tuesday, November 14, the Modesto Irrigation District (MID) Board of Directors approved a 7.5% electric rate increase for 2024 and a subsequent 5.5% increase for 2025. A Power Cost Adjustment designed to reflect fluctuating power supply costs will also be calculated and applied monthly to customer bills in 2025. These rate increases will apply to all MID electric customers and are effective January 1, 2024 and January 1, 2025.

MID appoints Jimi Netniss as General Manager

Modesto Irrigation District (MID) has appointed Jimi Netniss as the District's next General Manager. Netniss succeeds Ed Franciosa who has served as General Manager since March 2022 and is retiring following a 26-year tenure with MID.

MID successful in defending rates in court

The Modesto Irrigation District (MID) received a favorable ruling from the Stanislaus County Superior Court (see attached) in the remedies phase of a challenge to the District's electric rates. While the court designated the plaintiffs - Andrew Hobbs and David Thomas, et. all - as the prevailing party, the court found that the plaintiff class is not entitled any refunds as MID's 2018 Cost of Service Analysis proved that the 2016 rates in question were below the cost of service.

MID and TID sign agreement with the state to advance Tuolumne River plan

This week the California Natural Resources Agency announced that the Modesto and Turlock irrigation districts (MID and TID) and our Tuolumne River partner San Francisco Public Utilities Commission signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to advance the Tuolumne River Voluntary Agreement. The state also released the Tuolumne River-specific term sheet which includes details on proposed river flow and habitat restoration efforts.

MID and TID seek additional water rights to benefit customers, communities and environment

Responding to the impacts of climate change and other stressors, Modesto Irrigation District and Turlock Irrigation District filed a water rights application with the State Water Resources Control Board to capture unappropriated flood waters from the Tuolumne River and put them to beneficial use.
